BASEBALL GOES 1-1 OVER WEEKEND

Baseball went 1-1 last weekend in non-conference play, with a 5-4 loss to Southwestern Friday and a 6-5 win over Grossmont Saturday.
Against Southwestern, the Panthers took a 3rd inning lead and held it until a 7th inning rally by the Jaguars. Aaron McCann lead Chaffey with 1 run, 2 hits, and 1 RBI. Patrick Keller and Jordan Hernandez each had 1 run and 2 hits. Oscar Martinez scored the final run for the men. Jonathan Longtin started the game and went 5 innings, facing 20 batters. Matt Vigil relieved in the 6th and Taylor Sims pitched the final 1.2 for the Panthers.
Saturday, the Panthers hosted Grossmont in a location swapped game defeating the Griffins 6-5. Chaffey lead into the 9th inning when Grossmont tied the game 5-5. A 9th inning walk by Jake Nichols brought in Brian Martin to win the game. Martin was running for Joel Osuna who also walked. Justin Wells, Jordan Hernandez, Jake Nichols, and Christian Valdez also scored for Chaffey. Sean McClure who finished the game for Chaffey earned the win. Nick Garcia started off for the team, relieved by Brandon Whetnight and Parker Fokken.
The men host Cerro Coso Tuesday.
