Bio

Michael Lonsdale started his collegiate coaching career in the fall of 2014 at California State University, Monterey Bay. During that year Coach Lonsdale worked with the outfielders and served as the team’s first base coach on game days. That year Coach Lonsdale had the privilege to work with and learn from his former head coach, Walter White. During the 2015 season, the Otters made the CCAA Conference tournament for the second time in school history and finished with a league record of 27-13. All three starting outfielders for the Otters earned all-league post-season awards.  The next season Lonsdale would travel back to his JC alma mater, Chabot College. That season he would work with the catchers and hitters, and serve as the team’s third base coach on game days. That year, the Gladiators would make a run to the California Elite 8, getting knocked out by eventual state champions, Santa Rosa JC.               

The next year, Lonsdale accepted an assistant coaching position at Dodge City Community College in Kansas. He served as the team’s first assistant in charge of the pitchers, catchers and recruiting. That season the Conquistadors of Dodge City would win the most conference games in program history, tie for second in conference, and have eight players receive all-league honors. Lonsdale also served as the assistant coach for two summers in the Jayhawk Collegiate Summer League with the Dodge City A’s.

Coach Lonsdale graduated from Castro Valley High School in 2009, and spent his first two years of college as St. John’s University, redshirting as a freshman. During the 2012 season, Lonsdale transferred to Chabot College where he would be named first team Northern California All-American, and second team All-Pacific Associate Division Team. Lonsdale was a unanimous all-conference selection for the Gladiators and posted a conference batting average of .354 and an overall OBP of .479.

After his time at Chabot, Lonsdale transferred to CSU Monterey Bay, where he would help lead the Otters to their first ever regular season conference title, first ever playoff appearance, and the #1 seed in the west region, his junior year.

Coach Lonsdale has a bachelor’s in Kinesiology from CSU Monterey Bay and is pursuing a master’s degree in exercise science from Concordia University.
