Bio

Alba Espinar-Gomez joins the Panther Family for the Fall 2022 season.  She is a former collegiate water polo player from Azusa Pacific University where she was named Golden  Coast Conference Newcomer of the Year and first team All-America.  A transfer from the University of Barcelona, Coach Espinar-Gomez earned her degree in Business Administration at APU.

Alba is a native of Barcelona, Spain and moved to California in 2014 to attend college and continue her water polo career.  She has been playing since age 8 and has played professionally in the Spanish League, winning multiple national championships.

After college, Coach Espinar-Gomez planned on pursuing a career in business but ended up enjoying coaching more.  She also currently coaches at Glendora High School where she is in her 5th year as head coach.  The Tartans have made three CIF semifinals and one CIF final appearances.  She has been responsible for building the program at GHS; moving from Division 6 to Division 1 in her seven years there.

She also serves as an assistant coach at her alma mater, Azusa Pacific.  "It is amazing to give back to a program that gave me so much."  Coach also founded the Storm Water Polo Club: a Glendora based program that gives local children the opportunity to learn the game and play year-round.

"I enjoy giving student-athletes the confidence to become better players and the best people they can be - in and out of the water.  I also strive to teach them how importance hard work, resilience, discipline, and respect are.  Sports has taught me so much throughout the years and made me the person that I am today."

In her free time, she enjoys reading, discovering new foods, NBA basketball, and traveling.
